The Information Technology industry is comparatively young and often changes with eye-popping speed. Technology isn’t simply an interesting toy; rather, it permeates business processes throughout the City. Golden’s Information Technology (IT) Department provides technological leadership, assists staff with new technology deployments, and services IT infrastructure.
IT’s primary customers are City staff, but we also implement and support technology that serves Golden’s citizens, businesses, and others. The City’s web site, online Parks and Recreation registration service, Internet-based mapping solutions, and other web services comprise the public face of the City’s technology systems. IT staff also support a myriad of back-end systems, a complex network, hundreds of PCs, numerous servers, a phone system, and a variety of peripheral devices.
One IT Manager, 3 Network Administrators, 1 digital security administrator, and 1 technical support specialist share the help desk, infrastructure maintenance, and project implementation loads for the organization. The City has maintained a fairly aggressive rate of technology implementations during the last decade, and we look forward to providing the leadership for future technology growth.
